7/25/06 - At 0148 hours Air 69 was dispatched to Mildred Rd and Rt 422 for the house
trailer on fire assisting Berks County stations 49 (Amity) and 6 (Monarch). The Air Wagon
set up the instant sun and filled some SCBA cylinders. Units cleared at 0306 hours, a
career driver was recalled onto duty to cover the station with the Squirt.
7/9/06 - Units were dispatched at 11:59 hours for a reported building fire at the Boston
Market on 223 Shoemaker Road. Ladder 69 went on location with smoke showing. Engine
69-6 dropped a supply line to the hydrant. Crews entered threw the front of the building
and found a small fire in the utility closet. Crews quickly extinguished the fire. Units cleared
at 2:11 hours.
6/26/06 - After a long "Dry Spell" in the boro....at 8:20 hours units were alerted to Mervine
Street & Terrace Lane for a reported house fire. Montgomery County Radio Dispatch
came back with a 2nd caller stating the address was 1096 Terrace Lane & reported smoke
from that residence. Squirt 69 went on location a half block out reporting heavy fire in the
front of the building and gave the order for the 2nd engine to lay-in. It took crews several
minutes to get the blaze under control and the house was severely damaged. Roy L.
Reifsnyder was forced to jump head first out a 2nd story window at the rear of the
residence. 2 dogs, turtles, fish, and hermit crabs were unable to be rescued and perished
in the blaze. The 3rd dog "Jake" a Saint Bernard was rescued from the front porch by a
neighbor Betty Swavely. Although officials could not identify the cause of the fire it
appeared accidental and started in the kitchen on the counter. Collegeville, Ringing Hill,
West End, and Royersford Humane fire companies also assisted at the scene. The
Estimated damage of the fire was $225,000. Units cleared at 14:00 hours

8/3/06- At 17:39 hours units were dispatched for a reported dwelling fire at 516 N. Evans
Street. Upon arrival units found nothing and recalled. Rescue 69 (Chip Smale) transmitted
over radio reporting the correct address being 516 N. Franklin Street from a by-stander
flagging him down. Upon his investigation he reported a working kitchen fire on the 2nd
floor of that address. Firefighters went in service with multiple hand-lines. It took
firefighters several minutes to subdue the fire which had spread from the kitchen across
the rest of the 2nd floor and extension to the 3rd floor. Collegeville with a crew was
brought into the scene from their 2nd alarm stand-by. Units cleared at 20:07 hours.
8/7/06 - Nuremberg-Weston Fire Company officially completed the "Quint" with thier
station decals.
8/8/06 - At 8:41 hours units from Station 69 were dispatched to North Hanover St. &
Farmington Avenue for reported smoke in the area. Upon arrival units were told to stage
at Farmington Avenue and await further orders. It turned out to be that the smoke was
coming from the Upper Pottsgrove Area at 118 Hanover Drive. 69 Units were recalled with
the exception of Squirt 69 which proceeded into the scene and was recalled a short time
after. Deputy 69-D arrived with the trailer to the ground and the remains of it were still on
fire. The driveway leading to the trailer was very narrow so a Field Unit had to be
dispatched so it could make it up the driveway to extinguish the remains. Station 79
(Upper Pottsgrove), Station 59 (Ringing Hill), Station 64 (Norco), Station 67 (Gilbertsville)
all responded. Units cleared at around 12:00 hours
8/11/06 - At 1654 hours the assignment was given for 433 Walnut St. Engine 69-6
(Empire) arrived with smoke showing and dropped in from Washington and Walnut, Ladder
69 (Phillies) took the side "A" position and laddered the roof, Rescue 69 (Goodwill)
beached it and started a search, and Squirt 69 (NEFC) stood by at Franklin and Walnut
incase a second water supply needed to be established. It was discovered that a fire was
on the side "C" porch and was quickly extinguished. Ventilation and overhual were
performed, units racked their lines, and were clear by 1743 hours.
8/12/06 - At 0635 hours Air 69 was dispatched on the Task-Force alarm for the building
on fire 1428 Ben Franklin Highway (Jay Lanes Bowling Alley) assisting Berks 49 (Amity).
Upon arrival the crew from the Air Wagon found a 200 x 75 1 story building with heavy
smoke showing. The men assisted crews with the initial fire attack. At 0648 a special alarm
was transmitted bringing Squirt 69 from the Delta House. As the first bottles were nearing
empty, command pulled the plug and evacuated the building. This was due to the
tremendous fire load and bow string truss roof. Crews went on the defensive and set up
wagon pipes as the truck companies trench cut the roof. Once the spread was contained
crews were sent back in an a second interior attack. Heavy fire was once again
encountered, after about 15 minutes of work the bulk of the remaining fire was knocked.
There was extensive overhaul performed. NEFC units cleared at 1032 hours. An
AWESOME job was done by everyone!

8/13/06 - For the third time this weekend the men from the Delta house were taking in a
box. This time it was for box 1211, fire reported 422 Lincoln Ave. E-696 (Empire) arrived
on scene with smoke showing from side "A". The Squirt dropped in from Franklin and
Lincoln and the crew ran a line in off E-696. Heavy smoke was encountered and it was
discovered that the stove and areas around it had been burning but were put out by the
homeowner. Fans were set, lines were racked, and everyone was clear in about 45
minutes.
8/24/06 - At 00:17 hours AIR 69 was dispatched to 8A Aspen House in Amity Township for
a apartment fire. The fire had apparently started in one of the bathrooms of a apartment
on the 2nd floor. The Air Unit filled approximately 20 cylinders. Units cleared at 0242
hours.
8/24/06 - At 23:31 hours 69 Units were dispatched to 220 Manatawny Street for a
reported kitchen fire. Ladder 69 went on location reporting the fire to be out and a heavy
smoke condition. Damage was done to the stove area and the cabinets around it. Units
cleared by Chief 69 A (Campegio) at 11:59 hours.
8/26/06 - At 1:33 hours 69 units were dispatched to 431 Beech Street for a reported
dwelling fire. County came back reporting this would be a bedroom fire and the residents
were evacuated. Engine 69-6 (Empire) went on location with nothing showing. Moments
later Engine 69-6 reported a working bedroom fire. Assistant Chief 69-B (Heimbach)
switched all operations over to FireGround2. Engine 69-6 advised Squirt 69 (North End)
to lay-in. It was found to be only a small mattress fire in the bedroom with a heavy smoke
condition in the resident. The fire was placed out in a matter of minutes and crews
checked for extensions in the house. Units were cleared by Pottstown 5 (Lengel) at 2:34
hours.
8/27/06 - At 17:28 hours 69 units were dispatched to 1431 Maple Street for a reported
vehicle fire. Deputy 69-B (Kisch) went on location reporting a working vehicle fire. Rescue
69 (Smale) lead off with a dry chem to extinguish the fire. The bulk of the fire was out
when Engine 69-6 (Empire) arrived and they pulled a booster line to finish it off. Units
were cleared at 18:14 hours by Pottstown 5 (Lengel).
